Why it matters now

Volatility isn't a one-off — it's structural.

Cocoa prices normalised after the 2023–24 spike, but the underlying exposure — climate, geography, a handful of growing regions — hasn't gone away. Building on natural, locally grown inputs is one way to decouple a recipe's Scope 3 footprint and its supply security from that structural exposure, rather than betting on prices staying calm.

A compliance note, not a legal opinion

EUDR and cocoa-specific due diligence.

The EU Deforestation Regulation introduces due-diligence requirements that fall most heavily on cocoa, coffee and other tropical commodities. An independent, non-cocoa supply chain can reduce that specific exposure for a given recipe — but whether and how EUDR applies to your products, and what it requires of your business, is a legal and regulatory question for your own compliance team to confirm. Nothing on this page should be read as a legal or regulatory determination.
